NFL fans are convinced that Taylor Swift is not a fan of one of Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates.
Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is trending on social media for his controversial comments during a commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas over the weekend. One of the league’s top kickers, Butker made remarks that criticized Pride Month, transgender people, and promoted traditional gender roles for women.
“I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and a mother. I’m on this stage, and able to be the man I am, because I have a wife who leans into her vocation,” he said.
“I’m beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.”
Given Swift’s outspoken liberal views, it’s unlikely she would support Butker’s statements—even though Butker has referred to himself as a Swiftie.
“Do you think Harrison Butker knows his Taylor Swift days are over? Maybe he’s so stupid that he doesn’t. I mean, he called himself a Swiftie & quoted her music then immediately gave a message she’d abhor. Talk about not getting it. So perhaps self-awareness isn’t his thing,” one fan wrote.
“Lordy, Taylor Swift is going to be stunned by Butker’s remarks. I can see Travis trying to tell her not to speak up,” another fan added.
“Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker fired by Taylor Swift,” one fan joked.
“Has Butker met Taylor Swift? It’s gonna be weird in the Chiefs locker room,” another fan wrote.
While NFL locker rooms are diverse and these comments may not cause a significant stir within the Chiefs, it’s safe to say Butker and Swift won’t be hanging out anytime soon.
We’ll have to wait and see how many games Taylor attends this coming season.
