The recent online spat between Shannon Sharpe and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal continues to captivate sports fans, and Sharpe addressed the situation at the Webby Awards red carpet on Monday, May 13th.
Earlier this month, Sharpe and O’Neal’s disagreement over the 2024 NBA MVP choice escalated into a war of words, culminating in an unexpected diss track from O’Neal on May 10.
Speaking on the red carpet for this year’s Webby Awards, which celebrate the best in online content, Sharpe told PEOPLE he doesn’t have a problem with O’Neal and is ready to move on.
When asked if he had anything more to say to O’Neal, Sharpe, 55, said no.
“I don’t have any problem with Shaq,” the Pro Football Hall of Famer told PEOPLE. “He said what he said, and I’m ready to move on.”

The feud began when Sharpe accused O’Neal of being jealous of Denver Nuggets player Nikola Jokic. After Jokic won his third NBA MVP title in four years on May 8, O’Neal interviewed him for Inside the NBA and told Jokic, 29, he thought the award should have gone to Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander instead.
Sharpe, disagreeing with O’Neal’s comment, shared on his podcast The Nightcap that he believes O’Neal—who has only one MVP trophy from his Hall of Fame NBA career—was partly “envious” of Jokic’s multiple MVP accolades.
O’Neal responded by taking shots at the Club Shay Shay podcast host on Instagram for not being “ranked in the top 10” of his own “profession.” He then released a diss track further calling Sharpe out.
In the track, O’Neal said Sharpe is “way beneath me” and called Sharpe’s podcast a “bulls— podcast.”
“Your whole demeanor is faker than new rapper beefy/ You’re soft before you get fly, you’d rather tweet me/ I was in three different cars when you was in three feet/ All I see is dollar signs, they coming in 3-D,” O’Neal raps. “Make it hot, ain’t no way around my degrees/ You are not in my spot, you are like a peewee.”
