Derrick Ward, a former Super Bowl champion running back for the New York Giants, declared his innocence during his court appearance in Los Angeles on Wednesday, following his arrest for multiple alleged robberies.
The 43-year-old Ward was apprehended in Los Angeles on December 18, facing accusations of robbing several establishments, including gas stations.

According to TMZ, Ward is accused of robbing various establishments, including gas stations and other stores.
Law enforcement reports indicate that he did not use a gun during the alleged incidents but attempted to use force to obtain cash from cashiers.
Ward was apprehended by the police on Monday and remains in custody. The 43-year-old is being held on $250,000 bail.

Ward played a significant role in the New York Giants’ historic victory in Super Bowl XLII, where they ended the New England Patriots’ undefeated season in one of the most remarkable upsets in sports history.
Besides the Giants, he also had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans during his NFL career.
Initially a seventh-round pick by the New York Jets in 2004, Ward joined the Giants after being cut before the season began.
Following the 2008 season, where he rushed for 1,025 yards, he signed a $17 million deal with Tampa Bay.
Over his 93-game NFL career, Ward amassed 2,628 rushing yards and scored 12 rushing touchdowns.
