Following his release from WWE, Olympic gold medalist wrestler Gable Steveson has attracted interest from several NFL teams, his manager revealed.
On a recent episode of The MMA Hour, host Ariel Helwani shared a statement from Steveson’s manager, Dave Martin, indicating that the NFL could be a potential career path for the wrestler.
This isn’t Steveson’s first brush with football; post his 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics victory, a scout from the Buffalo Bills had previously expressed interest in him.

Steveson, standing 6’1″ and weighing 285 pounds, possesses the physical stature and athleticism that could translate well to football—a sport that demands both size and agility. His wrestling background, showcasing remarkable athleticism for his size, suggests potential on the football field.
However, the transition from wrestling to the NFL is challenging, as demonstrated by Brock Lesnar’s brief and ultimately unsuccessful stint with the Minnesota Vikings in 2004 after his amateur wrestling and WWE career.
With NFL training camps starting in just a few months, time is tight for Steveson to prepare for the 2024 season.
Moreover, the window for him to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics for wrestling has closed, offering him some flexibility in choosing his next steps. Despite the interest from NFL teams, transitioning to professional football could be a formidable challenge for the 23-year-old Steveson.
