Gisele Bündchen found herself an unwitting focal point during the Netflix special “GROAT: The Greatest Roast Of All Time: Tom Brady,” where Tom Brady’s life, including his personal relationships, was humorously dissected.
Notably, jokes targeting his former marriage with Bündchen and their 2022 divorce surfaced frequently throughout the evening.
During the event, Kevin Hart quipped about Brady leaving his former coach Bill Belichick for Tampa Bay and connected it humorously to Gisele’s new interest in martial arts. Nikki Glaser also took a jab, linking Brady’s suggestion of jiu-jitsu to their marital issues.
These comments, though part of the roast’s humor, sparked controversy regarding their appropriateness.
This sentiment was echoed on “The View,” where co-host Ana Navarro criticized the focus on Bündchen, noting her as an unpaid subject of jokes despite being the mother of Brady’s children and his ex-wife. Navarro suggested that exploiting Bündchen’s part in Brady’s life for laughs was in poor taste. Alyssa Farah Griffin and legal expert Sunny Hostin also expressed discomfort, pointing out the roast’s mean-spirited nature, especially as Bündchen was not a consenting participant like Brady, who was an executive producer and financially benefited from the event.

Navarro went further to suggest that Brady should compensate Bündchen, particularly given his confrontation with comedian Jeff Ross over a joke about Robert Kraft but not defending Bündchen similarly.
Following the roast, reports from PEOPLE indicated that Bündchen felt deeply disappointed by the portrayal of her family during the program. The roast, though filled with celebrity appearances and comedic moments, has left a mixed reception regarding its handling of personal subjects, especially concerning family and close relationships.
