NFL teams received a cautionary message regarding Rashee Rice, with an anonymous executive labeling the Chiefs wide receiver as ‘not a good dude’ amidst recent legal troubles, including an assault investigation and involvement in a multi-car collision.
As reported by veteran sportswriter Bob McGinn, renowned for his extensive coverage of the Green Bay Packers over 38 years with the Green Bay Press-Gazette and the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, an NFL personnel director expressed dissatisfaction with Rice’s demeanor prior to the 2023 NFL Draft.
Despite concerns, Rice was eventually drafted as a second-round pick (No. 55 overall) by the Kansas City Chiefs a year ago.

The executive reportedly labeled the 24-year-old wide receiver as a “scouts’ nightmare” and “talented, but not a good dude” in his draft report.
Rice faces suspicion of assault in Dallas just over a month after being involved in a chain-reaction crash as one of the speeding drivers, resulting in multiple charges, as reported by the Dallas Morning News on Tuesday.
According to law enforcement officials interviewed by the Texas-based outlet, Rice is suspected of assaulting an individual at a downtown nightclub in the early hours of Monday.
Following the altercation, the individual sought medical attention at a hospital.
Dallas police did not explicitly identify Rice as the suspect when providing details of the incident to The Associated Press.
Officers responded to a report of an assault at the nightclub around 2:30 a.m. Monday, and the victim transported themselves to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
As of now, Rice’s attorney, Texas state Sen. Royce West, along with the Chiefs and the NFL, have not issued public statements regarding the matter.
Last month, Rice reported to the Chiefs for voluntary workouts.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid mentioned that he had conversed with the receiver and affirmed that the team would allow the legal proceedings to unfold.
