Flavor Flav is making waves as the ultimate supporter for the U.S. women’s water polo team as they prepare for the Paris Olympics!
The hip-hop legend and Public Enemy pioneer responded to a call for help from Maggie Steffens, the 30-year-old captain of the team. Steffens highlighted the financial struggles many athletes face, noting on Instagram that they often need multiple jobs and depend heavily on sponsorships for travel, accommodations, and basic living expenses.
“Some may not know this, but most Olympians need a 2nd (or 3rd) job to support chasing the dream (myself included!) and most teams rely on sponsors for travel, accommodations, nutritional support, rent/lodging, and simply affording to live in this day and age,” Steffens wrote. “Especially female sports and female athletes.”

Moved by her message, Flavor Flav, a proud father of eight and an advocate for women’s sports, stepped up to the plate. “AYYY YOOO, as a girl dad and supporter of all women’s sports – I’m personally going to sponsor you, my girl, whatever you need,” Flav replied. He didn’t stop there, committing to support the entire team and promising to leverage his connections and resources for further help.
“That’s a FLAVOR FLAV promise,” he affirmed.
Steffens, a three-time gold medalist, expressed her gratitude and excitement about the unexpected support: “OMG THANK YOU!!! That means the world! ???? You will love water polo! Team behind the team! ??”
This act of generosity isn’t out of character for Flav, who has shown his support in various ways, including performing the national anthem at a Milwaukee Bucks game—a tribute to his family members who served in the U.S. military.
As the U.S. women’s team eyes their fourth consecutive gold medal, Flavor Flav’s enthusiastic backing adds a unique layer of support, demonstrating his commitment to boosting the team and acknowledging the challenges female athletes face.
