Well, that’s one reason to use a pinch runner.
The Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres pulled of a noteworthy trade on Friday night as the Marlins sent second baseman Luis Arraez over to the Padres for three prospects and relief pitcher Woo-Suk Go.

The Marlins acquired three prospects in the deal outfielder Dillon Head, outfielder Jakob Marsee, and first baseman Nathan Martorella.
Martorella was actually in the game for the San Antonio Missions and standing on second base when he found out that he was being traded.
Now if we were near the MLB trade deadline when trades are a bit more frequent, it may be a bit less surprising, but Martorella was flabbergasted by the news apparently as he couldn’t understand why he was being pinch run for in the third inning.
Martorella, a former fifth-round pick, had a .294 batting average and a .282 OPS for San Antonio this season.
As for the main piece of the trade, Arraez was off to a slow start for the Marlins but the Padres will be banking on the two-time batting champion to turn things around.
