T.J. McConnell emerged as a key player for the Indiana Pacers during Thursday night’s pivotal victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, scoring an impressive 20 points.
While many NBA fans were taken aback by McConnell’s standout performance, Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton wasn’t the least bit surprised. In fact, he had full confidence in McConnell’s ability to shine on the court.
During the postgame press conference, Haliburton was asked about McConnell’s impressive showing against the Bucks. In response, he revealed a little insider knowledge: McConnell’s wife, Val, was in attendance for Game 6.
Haliburton humorously remarked, “I knew he was going to respond because his wife Val was here. I always tell him he plays better when Val is at the games.” He went on to explain that McConnell had been feeling down after Game 5 but assured him that with Val’s presence at Game 6, he would bounce back. And indeed, McConnell did, much to Haliburton’s satisfaction.

The lighthearted remark elicited chuckles from the reporters present at the press conference.
T.J. and Valerie McConnell have been together since high school and tied the knot in September 2017. Their relationship has been well-documented on social media, with countless shared photos capturing their journey together.
As the Pacers gear up for the next challenge, McConnell’s continued contributions off the bench will be crucial for their success. With Game 1 against the Knicks looming on Monday night, all eyes will be on McConnell as he looks to maintain his momentum and help propel the Pacers further in the playoffs.
