Caitlin Clark’s debut performance for the Indiana Fever left much of the basketball world in awe, but not everyone was quick to shower praise on the former Iowa star.
In a subtle dig, the official X account for the Dallas Wings took a jab at Clark’s attempt to score in the final moments of a tied game against them.
With just 30 seconds remaining on the clock, Clark drove to the rim in an attempt to make a contested layup, only to be met by Natasha Howard’s decisive block. The play delighted fans in Dallas and set the stage for Arike Ogunbowale’s game-winning shot.
Following the game, the Wings shared a clip of Howard’s block on Clark on social media, accompanied by the caption: “Welcome to the league.” While some fans viewed it as a playful jab, others criticized it as a “bad look” for the Wings.

Despite the setback, Clark concluded her preseason debut with 21 points on 6-of-15 shooting and expressed pride in her performance. “My biggest goal coming into tonight was to continue to be myself, play aggressive,” she remarked via ESPN. “I thought that’s what I did. I think there’s a lot to be proud of.”
WNBA fans can anticipate seeing Clark back in action on May 10th when the Indiana Fever face off against the Atlanta Dream.
