College football’s most memorably named player is on the move.
Oklahoma quarterback General Booty has entered the transfer portal, as reported by Pete Nakos of On3.
Over the past two seasons, Booty has played second fiddle to Dillon Gabriel. Although Gabriel’s transfer to another top-tier program seemed to open a door for Booty to compete for the starting position in 2024, he has opted to seek a new beginning elsewhere.
Before his tenure at Oklahoma, Booty was a standout at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, where he topped the NJCAA charts with 3,115 passing yards and 25 touchdowns.

Booty hails from a family steeped in sports tradition.
His father, Abram Booty, was a receiver at LSU from 1997 to 2000, racking up 1,768 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. His uncles include Josh Booty, a former LSU quarterback and Florida Marlins third baseman, and John David Booty, a former quarterback for USC.
Despite the fame that comes with his unique name, Booty expressed two years ago that he hopes to be recognized for his performance on the field. His decision to enter the transfer portal reflects his belief that another program might better facilitate his ambitions to make a name for himself through his athletic prowess.
