A WNBA star had an important facetime with Steph Curry right before being drafted.
Cameron Brink was turning heads with her stunning black dress at Monday night’s WNBA draft before being draft second overall by the Los Angeles Sparks.
Prior to being drafted however, Brink revealed that she had a facetime conversation with her god-brother, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.

She also revealed that she talked with Steph’s brother, Charlotte Hornets guard Seth Curry, as well.
“I actually FaceTimed Steph five minutes before the show started. He just said to have fun with it. I think he can share so much great advice because obviously he’s been through this. He just said to make stuff like this fun because it can be stressful, to make it fun. I called Seth Curry as well. He hung up immediately because that’s Seth, but then he called back right after. They’re both great sounding boards for me.”
The story of the Curry brothers being the god-brothers stems from Brink’s mom, Shelly Bain-Brink, and Steph and Seth’s mom, Sonya, went to Virginia Tech together where Bain-Brink played basketball and Curry played volleyball. The pair eventually became roommates.
Brink has been close with the Curry brothers for quite some time.
Steph had this to say in 2021:
“It’s pretty awesome having watched her grow up in the game, just come into her own as a talented high-school prospect, and as a highly talented freshman at Stanford.”
The 22-year-old was the Defensive Player of the Year for Stanford in 2024 as well as being a first-team All-American.
She was also the Pac-12 Player of the Year in both 2022 and 2024.
Brink was selected one pick behind Caitlin Clark who went first overall to the Indiana Fever and turned some heads herself with her all-Prada fit.
