Newly appointed Arkansas men’s basketball coach John Calipari has declared himself a fan of Iowa basketball phenom Caitlin Clark.
On Saturday, Calipari, who recently changed his X handle to “CoachCalArk,” shared a photo with Clark from the John R. Wooden Award ceremony.
He expressed his admiration for how Clark has revolutionized women’s college basketball while maintaining her authenticity and kindness toward others. “Had a chance to meet @CaitlinClark22 at the @WoodenAward ceremony, and I am very impressed. Caitlin has transformed women’s college basketball, but it hasn’t changed who she is and how she treats others. Special person!” Calipari posted.

The post garnered positive reactions, even from some of Calipari’s usual critics:
“Two goats. One’s an Arkansas head coach now ? never imagined cheering you on, @CoachCalArk but can’t wait to start…” commented one user.
A RedditCFB user humorously noted, “Execs at Tyson Foods are already on the phone with the Arkansas collective asking how much NIL Caitlin needs to hold off on the WNBA for another year.”
“Trying so hard not to like this,” another fan admitted.
As 2024 unfolds, it marks a period of significant transitions for both Clark, who is on the verge of starting her WNBA career, and Calipari, who is gearing up for his inaugural season with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
