A former San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowler has voiced his belief that his team was on the receiving end of poor officiating during Super Bowl LVIII.
Despite it being over two months since the Niners lost in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs, who secured back-to-back Super Bowl titles with the victory, three-time Pro Bowl safety Donte Whitner shared his perspective on the “Up and Adams Show” with Kay Adams.
Whitner suggested that his former team may have been subjected to subpar refereeing and potentially more during the game.
“When we think about the Super Bowl… I think that the 49ers played against the refs as well, guys,’ Whitner told host Kay Adams.
“I think that when we look at that film and you see bear hugs on those defensive ends, right? “
“You really see it in blatant moments in the game, the 49ers played against Taylor Swift, the refs, and the Kansas City.”

The Niners lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in dramatic fashion in last February’s Super Bowl as Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman scored a touchdown in overtime to give the Chiefs a 25-22 victory.
Whitner played for the 49ers from 2011 to 2013 and made the Pro Bowl twice with them. He also made the Pro Bowl once with the Cleveland Browns in 2014.
Whitner played in the NFL from 2006 to 2016 for the Buffalo Bills, 49ers, Browns, and Washington.
