The acclaimed documentary, which provides an intimate look at Kelce’s journey through football and family life behind the scenes in the NFL, has garnered two nominations at the upcoming 45th Sports Emmy Awards: outstanding long documentary and outstanding editing.
Among the nominees for outstanding editing are HBO Max’s “Hard Knocks” season featuring the New York Jets, Netflix’s “Under Pressure: The U.S. Women’s World Cup Team,” “Unredeemable” from the Golf Channel, and “Freeride Skiing.”
Competing for outstanding long documentary alongside “Kelce” are “The Deepest Breath,” delving into the world of champion free diving, “Full Circle,” chronicling the story of a skier left permanently disabled in an accident, “Saint of Second Chances,” highlighting Mike Veeck’s extraordinary life, and Showtime’s “Stand,” showcasing the journey of basketball star and social activist Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.

“Kelce” offers a poignant portrayal of Jason Kelce’s life, featuring appearances from his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, his wife Kylie Kelce, and his brother Travis Kelce, as they share personal stories and challenges encountered on their path to the NFL.
Since its premiere on September 12, “Kelce” has consistently ranked among the top documentaries on Amazon Prime, debuting at No. 1 in the U.S. and maintaining a position in the Top 5, as reported by Deadline.
During an episode of their podcast “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce,” Jason and Travis playfully attributed the documentary’s success in part to Travis’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, and their blossoming relationship at the time.
Travis remarked on the audience’s fascination with the family dynamic portrayed in the film, celebrating its achievement as the most-watched documentary ever on Amazon Prime Video.
“Kelce” delves into significant aspects of Jason Kelce’s life, including his contemplation of retirement and the emotional journey of transitioning away from football. The documentary also captures Kelce’s heartfelt reflections on fatherhood and his concerns for his three young daughters’ future amidst the risks associated with football.
Kelce officially bid farewell to his NFL career on March 4, delivering a heartfelt 40-minute speech surrounded by loved ones, including his wife, brother, and parents. In his emotional address, Kelce highlighted the special bond he shares with his brother.
The 45th Annual Sports Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled for May 21 at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.
