For the second consecutive year, President Joe Biden is extending an invitation to the UConn men’s basketball team to visit the White House.
UConn showcased their dominance in Monday night’s national championship game, overpowering Purdue in the second half. Tristen Newton, Stephon Castle, and Cam Spencer were instrumental in securing the team’s victory.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday morning, President Biden congratulated the Huskies on their achievement of clinching back-to-back national championships.
“Congrats, @UConnMBB, on clinching your sixth national title since 1999, surpassing all other teams during that period,” Biden expressed. “As a college basketball powerhouse, your dedication and teamwork exemplify the spirit of champions – a testament to our collective capabilities.”

Former President Barack Obama also joined in extending his congratulations to UConn through social media.
“Congratulations to the back-to-back national champions, @UConnMBB,” Obama tweeted. “An exceptional season by an incredibly impressive team.”
Both Biden and Obama accurately picked UConn as the tournament winner in their respective brackets, affirming the strength of the No. 1 overall seed. Moreover, President Biden successfully forecasted the victor of the women’s tournament, backing South Carolina to complete their flawless season.
