Trevor Bauer is staying in the news for all the wrong reasons.
USA Today has reported that a woman from Arizona has accused former MLB pitcher, Trevor Bauer, of sexual assault.
Court filings from December 2020 allege that Bauer choked the woman unconscious and held a steak knife to her throat, resulting in her pregnancy. Bauer, who won the NL CY Young Award in 2020, has been accused of similar acts by three other women but denies the allegations.
Via USA Today:
Baseball pitcher Trevor Bauer has been accused by another woman of sexual assault and choking her unconscious, this time in Arizona in late 2020, when the woman said in court filings that he raped her, got her pregnant and also held a jagged steak knife to her throat.
Bauer’s lawyers have countered the accusations by stating that he had a consensual sexual encounter with the woman, and she later demanded $1.6 million to terminate her pregnancy, which he claims he has audio recordings of. No criminal charges have been filed against Bauer to date.
Bauer, 32, has denied the allegations in court records and has countersued the woman, accusing her of fraud, extortion and fabricating her pregnancy.
Bauer was suspended by MLB for two years in 2022 after being placed on administrative leave the previous year due to allegations of sexual assault by another woman.
He was subsequently released by the Los Angeles Dodgers and signed a one-year deal worth $4 million with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan.
