The Dukes are advancing!
Duquesne University earned their first NCAA men’s basketball tournament win in 55 years which got them a shout-out from Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.
Duquesne defeated in BYU on Thursday afternoon to claim their first tournament victory since 1969.
LeBron James took notice of the big win on X sending over his congratulations to the team and his former high school head coach, Keith Dambrot.

Dambrot was the head coach of St. Vincent-St. Mary high school in Akron, Ohio from 1998-2001.
That team of course featured LeBron James who played on the varsity basketball team from 1999 to 2003.
Dambrot has been the head coach at Duquesne since 2017 and has announced that he will be retiring following this year’s NCAA tournament to care for his wife who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
The Dukes will await the winner of Morehead State and Illinois to see who they play in the next round, and you can be sure that James will be cheering on his former high school coach.
