The Chicago Bears hold the coveted No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft, and cornerback Jaylon Johnson has a clear directive for whoever the team selects.
Speaking on the “Up & Adams” show on Wednesday, Johnson emphasized the importance of authenticity within the team environment. “You can’t bring that Hollywood stuff into the building,” he asserted, particularly cautioning against it when dealing with seasoned veterans in the league. “Especially not with guys who have played this game at a high level for consecutive years,” he added.
Johnson underscored the need for newcomers to demonstrate their worth through their actions on the field. “We gonna see through it,” he warned, dismissing the significance of college achievements and any superficial glamour.
“What you did in college, the Hollywood, it’s like, nah, you gotta prove yourself. That stuff doesn’t matter,” he concluded.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams is widely anticipated to be the top choice for Chicago. The 22-year-old showcased his skills at his pro day on Wednesday, with Bears head coach Matt Eberflus and general manager Ryan Poles in attendance.
In a recent move, the Bears traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a conditional sixth-round pick in 2025. As of now, Tyson Bagent and Brett Rypien are the only quarterbacks left on Chicago’s roster.
Poles has been active this offseason in bolstering the offense, securing signings such as running back D’Andre Swift, tight end Gerald Everett, and acquiring wide receiver Keenan Allen, who personally attended Williams’ pro day.
Reflecting on Allen’s presence, Johnson praised the veteran’s skill and experience. “He’s a savvy vet, a savvy route runner,” Johnson remarked, expressing admiration for Allen’s craftiness and his impact on the league throughout his career.
Having recently inked a four-year, $76 million extension with the Bears, Johnson’s own achievements on the field have earned him recognition, including a second-team All-Pro nomination in 2023, highlighted by ten passes defended and four interceptions.
