Konstantin Koltsov, the boyfriend of tennis world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka, reportedly passed away on Monday evening in Miami.
Police have confirmed that his death was a result of suicide after he jumped from a balcony at the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort.
The 42-year-old Belarusian, known for his hockey career with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, was declared deceased by his former club Salavat Yulaev Ufa on the social messaging site Telegram on Tuesday.

Reports from Belarus suggested that Koltsov, who had been in a relationship with Australian Open champion Sabalenka, 25, for three years, succumbed to a ‘detached blood clot.’
However, authorities in Florida later revealed that he ‘jumped from a balcony’ at a luxury resort. Miami authorities have taken charge of the investigation, treating it as an ‘apparent suicide.’
Koltsov was in Florida to support Sabalenka ahead of the upcoming Miami Open.
Despite the sudden and tragic loss of Koltsov, the two-time Australian Open champion still plans to participate in the tournament in the Sunshine State, where she is seeded second.
Kolstov played for the Penguins in 2002-03 and 2003-04.
Kolstov and Sabalenka had reportedly been dating since 2021.
