Former NHL player Chris Simon has tragically passed away at the age of 52.
Simon was well known as an “enforcer” throughout his 15-year NHL career.
Puck Empire posted this tribute to Simon on Instagram:
“I regret to inform you that NHL alumnus Chris Simon has passed away at the age of 52.
Simon played 782 games in the NHL from 1993-2008 with Quebec, Colorado, Washington, Chicago, New York (R), New York (I), Calgary, and Minnesota, registering 144 goals and 305 points in that span.
He was a one-time Stanley Cup Champion (1996).”

No cause of death has been given at this time.
Simon had reportedly experienced some struggles post-retirement as in 2017 it was announced that he had been experiencing symptoms of CTE and was on welfare.
