The recent move by the Philadelphia Eagles to sign running back Saquon Barkley has left the city filled with joy.
The Eagles have secured Barkley on a three-year deal, worth up to $46.7 million, which includes $26 million fully-guaranteed money.
This move has certainly lived up to Howie Roseman’s reputation of securing big names on the free agent market for the Eagles’ offense, which has made fans ecstatic. In fact, some of the fans even went ahead and called the front office to congratulate and thank them for this brilliant move.

Barkley, who previously played for the Giants, will now be an Eagle. He rushed for 962 yards and six touchdowns in 2023, with 41 receptions, 280 receiving yards, and another four TDs.
However, this was a dip from the previous season in which he rushed for 1,312 yards and 10 scores due to a high-ankle sprain early in the term. The Giants didn’t place the franchise tag on him this year, following a standoff in 2023. Barkley, in turn, opted not to sign the tag and played on a one-year deal worth $11 million after fighting for more money following the team triggering the said tag.
It’s interesting to note that Roseman, who has a reputation for allocating small sums of the Eagles’ budget for running backs, has deviated from his stance given Barkley’s availability. He might even receive a few calls from fans himself!
