The second season of Full Swing on Netflix has been released, featuring a discussion with Paulina Gretzky about the challenges she and Dustin Johnson faced, including death threats, following his departure from the PGA Tour. However, Paulina also reflects on how their lives have improved since then, suggesting that they are now in a better place than when Dustin was on the PGA Tour.
Dustin Johnson was among the early defectors to LIV Golf, signing a reported $125 million contract. Additionally, he currently holds the top spot on the all-time LIV Golf money list, having earned $52.8 million over 25 events, including $18 million for winning the 2022 season individual champion title.
Before joining LIV Golf, Johnson was one of the PGA Tour’s biggest stars, enjoying immense popularity among golf fans. Unfortunately, this fervent fandom also led to some fans sending death threats to DJ and Paulina Gretzky.
Discussing these threats, Paulina revealed, “People were sending death threats and awful, awful things. People were aggressive, that’s for sure. But that’s when I shut it down for a little bit. I was like, I don’t need to look at this. Everyone has an opinion on it. Fine.”

By “shutting down,” Paulina refers to stepping away from the limelight for a while. Prior to DJ’s departure for LIV Golf, she was arguably the most famous PGA Tour wife and a well-known model/celebrity in her own right.
According to Paulina, the improvement in their lives isn’t solely due to the $177.8 million in earnings over two years. She emphasizes having more time together and greater control over their activities. She describes their previous life as being constantly on the go, but now they feel more in control and united.
Speaking about the U.S. Open in Los Angeles, Paulina expressed its significance to her.
Although the massive earnings from LIV Golf have undoubtedly changed their lives, Paulina’s decreased Instagram activity indicates a shift in their lifestyle. Nonetheless, their recent appearance on ‘The Scoop’ with Claire Rogers showcased a happy and content couple, indicating that the move to LIV Golf was the right decision for Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky.
