The Taylor Swift NFL era is far from over.
During his heartfelt retirement speech on Monday, veteran Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce, infused some subtle nods to his brother’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, or at the very least drew inspiration from her songs.
Announcing his decision to hang up his football cleats after 13 seasons in the NFL, Kelce paid homage to his brother, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, by quoting Swift’s song “All Too Well.” He remarked, “It’s only too poetic I found my career being fulfilled in the city of brotherly love, I knew that relationship all too well.”
In another instance, Kelce referenced Swift’s track “Wildest Dreams” when he said, “If you go above and beyond in this city, you will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams.”
Emotionally recalling his journey from childhood football to professional athlete, Kelce teared up as he expressed gratitude to his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, brother Travis, and his wife, Kylie Kelce, all visibly moved in the audience.
Acknowledging the profound bond with his brother Travis, a star tight end, Kelce reflected on their shared experiences growing up, playing, and dreaming together. He credited Travis for being instrumental in his journey to success, highlighting their close relationship and the childhood fantasies they shared of sporting glory.

Kelce also reminisced about meeting his wife, Kylie, at the 2014 Eagles’ Christmas party, and expressed pride in being a father to their three daughters: Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennie, 1.
In conclusion, Kelce thanked the city of Philadelphia for their unwavering support throughout his career and expressed optimism for the future. As he wiped away tears, he reflected on the privilege of playing for the Eagles and the lessons learned along the way.
Kelce, who was drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2011 draft, spent his entire career with the team. Notably, he secured a Super Bowl ring in 2018 and led the Eagles to the big game in 2023, where they faced off against the Chiefs, ultimately losing 38-35 in a memorable showdown.
