Fresh footage has surfaced, potentially shedding light on the altercation that led to former NFL MVP Cam Newton being violently attacked.
The quarterback, who last played for the Carolina Panthers in 2021, found himself in the midst of a brawl at a 7-on-7 football event in Atlanta on Sunday.
Cameras captured Newton fighting with multiple individuals after what appeared to be an ambush by a group of attackers.
According to The Athletic, those who confronted Newton were affiliated with TopShelf Performance, a training facility in Atlanta that had youth teams participating in the event.
Reports suggest that some TopShelf coaches involved in the scuffle had previously collaborated with Newton.
A video that emerged on Monday features an individual wearing a TopShelf Performance hoodie engaged in the altercation and verbally taunting Newton. “I’m going to say it – they can’t hide the film now… your non-throwing a** Atlanta hero quarterback cannot beat me,” the man is heard saying.

Many speculate that this footage offers insight into the underlying tensions that sparked the violence over the weekend.
Allegedly, the confrontation stemmed from a “heated game” between TopShelf and C1N, Newton’s football program, with both Under-18 teams exchanging verbal jabs before things escalated.
The altercation prompted police and security personnel to intervene, resulting in all parties involved, including Newton, being ejected from the event.
