Seems like Baker has finally found a home.
Baker Mayfield’s football journey took a dramatic turn when he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one-year contract after facing setbacks in Cleveland and Carolina. Tasked with succeeding Tom Brady, the former No. 1 overall pick had a lot riding on his performance in what was deemed a make-or-break season. Fortunately for Mayfield, he rose to the occasion.
Recent reports indicate that the Buccaneers are keen on retaining Mayfield’s services for the long term. Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times revealed that preliminary discussions regarding a contract extension have taken place between Mayfield and the team management.
Representatives for Mayfield are expected to sit down with Buccaneers GM Jason Licht at the NFL Combine, with both parties showing interest in securing a deal that could translate into significant financial rewards for the quarterback.

Mayfield’s preference appears to be staying in Tampa Bay, where he believes he has the best opportunity to compete for championships. Nonetheless, other teams, including the New England Patriots, have been mentioned as potential suitors for the talented quarterback.
During his tenure with the Buccaneers, Mayfield made the most of his one-year prove-it deal, leading the team to a respectable 9-8 record and guiding them through a successful playoff run that included a victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round. He showcased his skills by amassing personal bests of 4,044 passing yards and 28 touchdowns, with just 10 interceptions.
Furthermore, Mayfield’s stellar performance earned him recognition as the offensive MVP of the Pro Bowl games, where he excelled in the precision passing competition and demonstrated his prowess in flag football.
With his impressive on-field achievements, Mayfield’s financial future is undoubtedly looking bright as negotiations for a lucrative contract extension are underway.
