Team Tom or Team Bill?
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has shared his thoughts on whether Tom Brady would have remained with the team if Bill Belichick had left in 2020. Now retired, Brady achieved unprecedented success, securing seven Super Bowl victories, his final one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which left Belichick in a difficult position after suggesting Brady was past his prime.
The strained relationship between Brady and Belichick ultimately led to the quarterback’s departure from New England, a decision he revealed in the recent documentary series ‘The Dynasty’ on Apple TV+.
In the series, Kraft addresses the deteriorating relationship between Brady and Belichick, expressing his belief that Brady would have stayed if Belichick had departed.
When asked about this, Kraft responds confidently.

“Yes, I feel pretty strongly about that,” Kraft said, per The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin.
Following Brady’s departure, Kraft made the decision to part ways with Belichick and appointed Jerod Mayo as his replacement. It’s understood that Kraft was disappointed with Belichick, especially after witnessing Brady win another Super Bowl with a different team.
In a private conversation, Kraft reportedly expressed frustration, stating, “Bill had told me he couldn’t play anymore, and then he goes out and wins the F-ing Super Bowl.”
Tom Brady’s father also shared insights, revealing that Belichick admitted his mistake in September, acknowledging that it bothers him to see Brady succeed elsewhere after Belichick had initially suggested he was finished.
While letting Brady leave may be one of Kraft’s regrets, he can still reflect on the Patriots’ six Super Bowl victories under their tenure.
