Following her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut, Brittany Mahomes responded to critics with a message of empowerment.
In an Instagram Story post on Thursday, the 28-year-old entrepreneur addressed the negativity she faced, emphasizing the importance of staying true to oneself and not letting others’ opinions define one’s worth.
“People will dislike you. People will love you,” she wrote. “Don’t let any of that define you. KEEP SHINING and being YOU.”
Brittany’s post seemed to target those who suggested she landed the opportunity solely because of her marriage to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and her newfound friendship with Taylor Swift. However, she received overwhelming support from her followers, who celebrated her inclusion as a 2024 Swimsuit Issue rookie.
“Love it!!! She’s not just a ‘football wife.’ She’s a queen making her name known on her own and empowering girls everywhere,” commented one fan.

“Let’s go Brittany!! My favorite rookie!! She deserves this, she takes so much crap from the public- she got the last laugh ???,” echoed another supporter.
In a teaser video from the photoshoot, Brittany showcased various swimsuits in Chiefs’ red against the backdrop of a beach in Belize, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity and her desire to inspire others to pursue their dreams.
“I want people to know that they can accomplish anything,” she said to SI. “People are going to love you or hate you, but finding your values and what makes you ‘you’ to be the best version of yourself is what really matters.”
Brittany’s SI Swimsuit debut coincides with her upcoming appearance at Super Bowl 2024, where she will support her husband and the Chiefs. Despite her commitments, it remains unclear whether she will sit with her family or with Swift, who plans to attend the game despite her Tokyo performance the day before.
