In preparation for the upcoming Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid acknowledges the significant difference in the quarterback position compared to their previous matchup four years ago.
This time, the 49ers are led by Brock Purdy, a player who has made a notable impact.
Reflecting on Purdy’s performance, Reid expressed admiration for the quarterback’s abilities, citing his impact in changing the dynamics of his college program. Recognizing Purdy’s versatility, Reid emphasized his effectiveness both as a passer and with his agile moves on the field.
“He’s a heck of a player,” Reid said. “I remember, specifically, one of the Saturday afternoons watching him in college and I remember the head coach saying, ‘This guy’s changed our program.'”
“So, changing a program, that’s something,” Reid added. “That’s big. That’s what he is. He’s doing it in the National Football League. Last week he did as much with his legs as he did with his arm. He’s a good football player. He’s smart, got a good feel for things.”
While the Chiefs maintain a quarterback advantage, Reid emphasizes the need for his defense to remain vigilant and not underestimate Purdy’s skills. Super Bowl LVIII is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on February 11.
