There has been some speculation about potential NBA trade involving the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks, with Dejounte Murray being a key player in the discussions. However, the deal faces challenges as the Hawks are reportedly looking for a third team to acquire Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell.

Here’s what NBA Insider Shams Charania had to say Monday morning,
“It centered around D’Angelo Russell, a 2029 first round draft pick, and a pick swap I’m told. The hold up was that Atlanta wanted to find a third team for D’Angelo Russell.”
An All-Star with the Spurs in 2021-22, Murray is averaging 21.9 points per game and 5.2 assists per game as backcourt mates with fellow star guard Trae Young on the Atlanta Hawks. With a record of 18-24 this season, the Hawks have been disappointing so it is no surprise that changes may be on the horizon for them.
As for D’Angelo Russell, he has bounced around the NBA quite a bit throughout his career and is no stranger to being traded. Russell was first traded from the Lakers to the Brooklyn Nets in 2017. He was then sent by the Nets to the Golden State Warriors in the Kevin Durant blockbuster in 2019.
The Warriors quickly turned him into Andrew Wiggins in a 2020 trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves before he landed once again with the Lakers when the Timberwolves traded him there in 2023 as part of a three-team trade that saw Russell Westbrook land with the Los Angeles Clippers.
