The Cleveland Browns have been ousted from the playoffs, and their former franchise quarterback, Baker Mayfield, is embarking on a new chapter.
Baker Mayfield took a calculated risk on himself this year, and it’s paying off.
Having transitioned from the No. 1 overall pick in 2018 to navigating a constant battle to prove his value as a starting quarterback, Mayfield found a home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and demonstrated his prowess.
Entering the wild card game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the No. 4-seeded Buccaneers, with a 9-8 record, faced the No. 5 Eagles, who stood at 11-6. Despite the Bucs winning five of their last six games and the Eagles losing five of their last six, many anticipated the NFC East team to advance. However, Baker had different plans, delivering a stellar performance to lead his team to a convincing victory and progress to the divisional round.

Throughout this journey, Baker Mayfield’s wife, Emily Mayfield, has been steadfastly by his side. In her recent Instagram Story after the Wild Card game, Emily expressed her pride in Baker’s performance against the Philadelphia Eagles and addressed those who doubted him. She wrote, “The smile is everything. So much adversity. So many naysayers. People wanting him to fail. He hasn’t stopped working; he never stopped believing… I am SO proud of him. Onto the next one, @buccaneers.”
Baker Mayfield’s game-day stats included a 22-for-36 completion rate, 337 passing yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions in Tampa’s 32-9 victory. It undoubtedly feels gratifying for the Mayfields to see Baker reclaiming the pinnacle of the football world.
