The recent development in the separation between actor Nia Long and NBA coach Ime Udoka reveals that they have agreed to joint custody of their 12-year-old son. Negotiated by Long’s attorney, Samantha Spector, the arrangement includes Long receiving $32,500 per month in support for their child.
Despite an initial proposal of $56,389, both parties settled on the agreed amount. It was clarified that the higher figure was initially suggested due to Udoka’s coaching commitments with the Houston Rockets, involving extensive travel.
With Udoka having a monthly disposable income of $465,804, the custody agreement acknowledges that Long spends approximately 95% of the time with their son. For the current 2023-2024 season, it was determined that Udoka has less than a 5% timeshare with their child, mainly due to his coaching responsibilities and travel during the season.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the former couple will share joint custody of their 12-year-old son, and Long will receive $32,500 in monthly child support.

Regarding visitation, Udoka, being the head coach of the Houston Rockets, will provide Long with a written notice and a plan for the anticipated visit via email at least ten days in advance. The agreement stipulates that Udoka will maintain their son’s health and dental insurance, and both parents will collaboratively make decisions about the child’s health, education, and welfare.
The high-profile breakup between Udoka and the actress Nia Long gained attention due to accusations of infidelity. Udoka faced termination from the Celtics for engaging in an “intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the Celtics’ staff,” leading to his acceptance of the team’s decision and an expression of remorse. Long later shared the emotional challenges their son is facing in the aftermath of the separation.
