There has been ongoing discussion about Justin Fields’ future with the Bears, contemplating whether the team should retain him for the 2024 season or explore drafting Caleb Williams. Initially, with a 2-7 record at the start of the season, it seemed likely that Fields might not return. However, the narrative has shifted as the Bears secured five wins in their last seven games.
Fields has demonstrated significant improvement, and the Chicago fan base has expressed a clear desire to see the Ohio State product back for the next season. Despite this fan support, NFL insider Benjamin Allbright anticipates the Bears moving on from Fields.

“I think they move on,” Allbright stated. “During this last 5 games where they’ve gone 4-1, most of it has been because of the defense. Fields has 5 total TDs and 5 TOs thru that span with 3 sub 60% passing games.”
If the Bears decide to part ways with Fields in the upcoming offseason, they could likely receive at least a Day 2 pick in return. Opting for a rookie quarterback would offer financial advantages given the rookie’s salary scale. While Fields has showcased special talent, financial considerations may play a significant role in the Bears’ decision-making process.
