Legendary Kansas City running back Christian Okoye is dismissing the notion that Taylor Swift is to blame for Travis Kelce’s struggles this season. Okoye emphatically stated that Swift has no impact on the team’s performance and that Kelce’s challenges are due to opposing defenses devising strategies to contain him.
Contrary to those who attribute Kelce’s dip in form to Swift, Okoye argued that the pop star is not on the field, emphasizing that Kelce is playing as he always has. According to Okoye, teams are doubling up on Kelce because they recognize that other receivers on the team are dropping passes.

Examining game film, Okoye explained that opposing teams have identified a strategy to double up on Kelce and keep Patrick Mahomes contained in the pocket, leading to the Chiefs’ recent struggles.
“Taylor Swift is not on the field,” Okoye said. “Travis is playing like he always plays. Teams are just doubling up on him now knowing that our receivers are dropping the balls.”
Okoye expressed his appreciation for Swift’s contributions to the team this year and dismissed the idea that critics are unfairly blaming her for Kelce’s performance issues. He suggested that people pointing fingers and making unfounded claims are simply looking for excuses when the team is not performing well.
Looking ahead, Okoye expressed hope that the team could bounce back, especially with Swift attending the upcoming game against the Bengals.
Beyond football, Okoye, now 62, has authored a book titled “The Nigerian Nightmare: My Journey Out of Africa to the Kansas City Chiefs and Beyond,” and he is excited for Chiefs fans to explore his life story through the book.
