Earlier on Friday, Fox News committed a significant error while attempting to pay tribute to the life of former Pirates star Frank Thomas.
In an “In Memoriam” segment, Fox News mistakenly displayed an image of former White Sox slugger Frank Thomas. Fortunately, “The Big Hurt” is still alive.

MLB fans swiftly criticized Fox News for this mistake.
Fox News anchor Julie Banderas subsequently issued an apology on behalf of the network.
“We need to issue a correction for the ‘In Memoriam’ feature we showed a few minutes ago,” Banderas stated. “We misidentified the late Frank Thomas, the three-time All-Star for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Frank Thomas we showed you unfortunately was also a former pro baseball player. He is very much alive. We apologize for that mistake.”
The Frank Thomas who passed away this week was 93 years old and played in the MLB from 1951-1966. The other Frank Thomas played from 1990-2008.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m very sorry my ex-employer Fox would be this irresponsible on National TV this morning,” Thomas tweeted. “Yes, I’m alive and doing well. This blows my mind also.”
Frank Thomas is alive and well, and such errors should be avoided, especially on national television.
