The Vikings face a crucial decision regarding Kirk Cousins in the upcoming offseason, and the quarterback’s Achilles injury adds a layer of complexity to the situation.
In a media interaction on Wednesday, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson shared his perspective on the matter. When asked if he would advocate for Cousins to remain in Minnesota for the 2024 season, Jefferson affirmed that he would “definitely always give that extra word for Kirko.”

However, Jefferson believes that vocalizing his support for Cousins may not be necessary, as the quarterback’s performance speaks for itself.
“I feel like I really don’t have to voice my opinion that much,” Jefferson stated, as reported by the Pioneer Press. “Just look at his play before he went down.”
Before his injury, Cousins was performing at an MVP-caliber level. In eight starts, the seasoned quarterback boasted a completion rate of 69.5 percent, accumulating 2,331 passing yards with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions.
If Cousins returns for the 2024 season, the Vikings can likely rely on a strong passing game. Conversely, parting ways with him would signal a potential reboot for the team.
