Stacey King, the Chicago Bulls announcer, didn’t mince words when critiquing the San Antonio Spurs’ utilization of Victor Wembanyama during Thursday’s game, where the Bulls dominated with a decisive 114-95 victory.
Despite Wembanyama being a major draw for the near-capacity crowd at Chicago’s United Center, the Spurs failed to involve him in the offense as a primary option, much to King’s dissatisfaction.

Expressing frustration after another instance of Wembanyama being overlooked for a lob pass, King directed his criticism towards the French player’s Spurs teammates, questioning how they could miss a 7’4″ player and suggesting a hesitancy to pass him the ball. King emphasized that Wembanyama should be the team’s focal point, and others need to define their roles accordingly.
Coincidentally, the Bulls outscored the Spurs 53-35 after King’s commentary began.
King further observed that some of Wembanyama’s teammates appeared to play as if they should be the primary option, specifically singling out Jeremy Sochan for seemingly avoiding passing to Wembanyama even when he was open.
Wembanyama’s limited offensive involvement was evident in his mere 8 shot attempts, resulting in a stat line of 7 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. In contrast, four other Spurs players had double-digit shot attempts during the game.
