Alabama football player Elijah Pritchett was reportedly arrested on Wednesday night, facing charges of knowingly transmitting a sexually transmitted disease, classified as a Class C misdemeanor crime, as per the Tuscaloosa Thread.
On Thursday, the Tuscaloosa Municipal Court granted youthful offender status to Elijah Pritchett, Alabama’s reserve tackle, following his arrest. This designation is available to individuals between 18 and 21 years old, offering the potential for a lighter sentence and, more crucially, sealing the criminal charge record from the public.
Police in Tuscaloosa arrested redshirt freshman offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett Wednesday night and charged him with knowingly passing on a sexually transmitted disease.
Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, confirmed a report was filed last week that led to a warrant for Pritchett’s arrest being issued and served Wednesday evening.
The University of Alabama has not issued any statement or comment on the matter as of now. The next opportunity for Head Coach Nick Saban to address the media is scheduled to be during Rose Bowl media events in Pasadena, California.
According to The Tuscaloosa Thread report, Pritchett was released on Wednesday night after posting a $500 bond.
Throughout the current season, the offensive lineman has appeared in all 13 games for the Crimson Tide, primarily in a reserve or special teams capacity. Earlier in the season, Pritchett was in contention for the starting left tackle position alongside Kadyn Proctor.
Recent reports indicated Pritchett’s intention to enter the transfer portal, but on Saturday, he released a statement stating that transferring was not in his best interest, and he would be remaining with the Crimson Tide.
