In a recent and sobering revelation about the late Mike Williams, a former NFL wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, new details have emerged surrounding the cause of his passing.
Williams tragically lost his life three months ago after being removed from life support following a workplace accident in August. The accident occurred on a construction site, where Williams sustained severe injuries when heavy supplies fell on his head.

While initially showing signs of improvement in the intensive care unit, Williams unexpectedly passed away. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Department has now determined the cause of death via Yahoo: “Bacterial Sepsis with Cerebral Abscesses and Necrotizing Lobar Pneumonia due to multiple Dental Caries and retained tooth roots.” Additionally, Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease was listed as a contributing factor.
Williams succumbed to a fatal bacterial infection, ultimately causing his demise.
Selected as the No. 101 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Williams made a significant impact during his rookie season, scoring 11 touchdowns. In 2012, he recorded 996 yards and nine scores before signing a $40 million extension.
Unfortunately, injuries cut short his promising career, and the former Syracuse standout concluded his NFL journey with 223 catches, 3,089 yards, and 26 touchdowns in 63 games.
May Mike Williams rest in peace.
