The tide turned swiftly against New York Giants star Tommy DeVito. While he had gained popularity as a recent phenomenon in the NFL landscape, DeVito’s trajectory took a hit on Sunday.
Following the New York Giants’ victory over the Green Bay Packers, DeVito’s fame soared even higher. However, seeking to capitalize on his newfound celebrity, DeVito reportedly attempted to double his appearance fee, resulting in a setback for a local family business.
A Morristown, NJ pizza place named Coniglio’s pizzeria and bakery announced that Tommy DeVito would no longer be making an appearance at their restaurant on Tuesday. The family-run business stated that DeVito’s fee had jumped from $10,000 to $20,000 after the Packers’ win, rendering it unaffordable for them, as reported by Darren Rovell.
“Coniglio’s pizzeria and bakery in Morristown, NJ says that it will no longer have Tommy DeVito at the restaurant this Tuesday. They said they were told his fee increased from $10,000 to $20,000 after the Packers win and the family biz said they couldn’t afford it,” Darren Rovell tweeted.
DeVito’s financial aspirations may be fueled by the fact that he is earning a prorated salary of approximately $44,000 per week for each game he plays on the active roster for the remainder of the season, according to NorthJersey.com. This desire for additional income is understandable given the terms of his contract.

Upon signing with the New York Giants in April, DeVito received a $10,000 signing bonus and a $10,000 base salary guarantee, with the potential for more earnings depending on the performance for the rest of the season.
In Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, DeVito experienced a downturn in form, completing 20 of 34 passes for 177 yards without scoring and adding 36 yards on four carries in a 24-6 loss. It marked the first time he was held without a touchdown in games he started. Despite this setback, the Giants have declared him the primary backup for the upcoming season, indicating that DeVito’s story may still have positive chapters to come.
