Shohei Ohtani recently finalized a 10-year, $700-million contract with the Dodgers, officially completed on Monday. The 29-year-old reportedly agreed to defer 97% of his salary until the end of his contract, providing the Dodgers with financial flexibility to bolster their roster.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto is a highly sought-after pitcher in free agency, with the 25-year-old enjoying a stellar seven-year career with NPB’s Orix Buffaloes. He has won three consecutive Sawamura Awards as Japan’s top pitcher and boasts an impressive 1.82 ERA in 172 career NPB appearances. Yamamoto and Ohtani were teammates at the World Baseball Classic, contributing to Japan’s championship victory earlier this year.
Apart from the Dodgers, other interested teams reportedly include the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, and San Francisco Giants.
