According to information relayed by a team spokesperson to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the decision to keep Watson in a suite was a precautionary measure to avoid potential collisions on the sideline. The team expressed concern about the risk of the quarterback getting involved in a sideline collision, prompting the choice to have him observe the game from a suite.
It’s noteworthy that Watson wasn’t the sole occupant of the suite; the team stated that all players on the injured reserve were also present. The decision gains context in light of a recent incident where a sideline official suffered a severe injury after a collision with a player during another game.
Watson has been sidelined since his appearance against the Las Vegas Raiders on November 12, following a shoulder operation. Despite his absence, the quarterback aims to be ready for the start of the 2024 season. In the six games he played for the Browns this season, Watson accumulated 1,115 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions.
