Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce successfully kept the early stages of their romance discreet.
The 33-year-old singer, named Time’s 2023 Person of the Year, shared in her cover interview that their relationship began when Kelce charmingly mentioned her on his podcast. Swift found this gesture “metal as hell” and disclosed, “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”
By the time Swift made her first public appearance at one of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games in September, they were already a couple. Dismissing speculations about it being their first date, Swift commented, “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
The surprise appearance at Kelce’s game on Sept. 24, where Swift watched from Kelce’s suite alongside his mother Donna, marked the beginning of public sightings. Since then, she has been spotted at multiple games, supporting Kelce, who has also discussed their relationship on his podcast, co-hosted by his brother Jason.
Addressing the attention she receives in the NFL, especially when shown in Kelce’s suite, Swift remarked, “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in. There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”

However, Swift emphasized that her primary focus is supporting Kelce, stating, “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Swift also acknowledged a newfound appreciation for football since she and Kelce began dating, humorously remarking, “Football is awesome, it turns out. I’ve been missing out my whole life.”
With Taylor Swift becoming a focal point throughout the NFL season so far, there’s anticipation about what will happen when she attends a Chiefs playoff game.
