If there’s anyone poised to scrutinize the Cowboys’ success this season, it’s Stephen A. Smith.
With an impeccable 6-0 home record and an impressive average of 32.3 points per game, one would assume the Dallas Cowboys hold the title of the most formidable team in the NFL. However, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith remains unconvinced.
On a recent episode of First Take, Smith downplayed the Cowboys’ achievements at AT&T Stadium, asserting that the opponents they faced at home this season are “scrubs.” In his view, the team isn’t encountering challenges that adequately prepare them for the playoffs.
“The scrubs that they beat at AT&T Stadium… that ain’t the conditions that’s going to be waiting for him come playoff time,” remarked Smith.
While there is a kernel of truth in his observation, considering that none of the nine teams the Cowboys defeated currently have a winning record, and seven of them belong to the 10 worst records in the league, it’s essential to note that the Cowboys faced setbacks against division leaders—the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles.
