The Newport Beach Police Department is currently investigating allegations that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey engaged in an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl, as reported by Sgt. Steve Oberon. The department received information regarding this alleged involvement between the 21-year-old NBA star and a minor, and detectives are actively exploring whether any criminal activity occurred.
In an additional development, it has come to light that Giddey had two tickets in Newport Beach, prompting public discussion about these driving infractions.
A now-deleted post from an anonymous social media user claimed that a girl seen with Giddey in videos and photographs was a high school junior at the time. The social media account in question has been deactivated.
Giddey, an Australian who recently turned 21 in October, is now under scrutiny, with NBA spokesman Michael Bass acknowledging the league’s awareness of the situation.

When questioned about the allegations at practice, Giddey offered no comment initially, stating, “I understand the question, obviously. But there’s no further comment right now.” Upon further inquiry, he reiterated, “I get the question, guys. I completely understand you guys want to know about it. But just for right now, I don’t have anything to say.”
Thunder coach Mark Daigneault deemed it a personal matter and refrained from providing any comment.
It’s important to note that these tickets do not serve as evidence of wrongdoing; however, they do indicate Giddey’s presence in Newport Beach, potentially spending time with his alleged girlfriend. The investigation will determine the veracity of the claims and shed light on the nature of the relationship.
