In the world of public relations, the goal is typically to ensure that you, as the publicist, remain behind the scenes and out of the spotlight, unless, of course, your intention is to divert attention away from your client.
On Monday morning, Taylor Swift landed in Kansas City, MO, offering support to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce following his team’s road loss to the Denver Broncos. Interestingly, it seems that she’s unfazed by the recent controversy surrounding the NFL star’s publicist sharing a photo of her with a clown emoji obscuring her face.
Reportedly, Kelce will not be parting ways with his publicist, Pia Malihi, who asserts that she was merely reposting birthday messages and had not noticed the clown emoji superimposed over Taylor Swift.
According to popular gossip Instagram account Deuxmoi, Travis is still working with Pia.
It’s worth noting that Malihi has a history of working with agent Scooter Braun, who is regarded as public enemy number one by Swift’s devoted fans, known as Swifties. This connection has led to calls for her to lose her job.
It’s noteworthy that Taylor Swift did not attend Kelce’s game on Sunday, and his performance on the field was noticeably less impressive, with just 58 receiving yards on six catches, nearly half of his typical stats when she’s present.
As Taylor Swift is preparing for the South America leg of her Eras Tour, it’s likely that she’ll miss more games moving forward. Nevertheless, they are expected to spend Halloween together, and there’s even speculation that Taylor and Travis might dress up as David and Victoria Beckham for the occasion.
Swift traveled from New Jersey to Kansas City on Monday morning and arrived at Kelce’s home, which he will soon vacate for a more private location.
The future of Kelce’s publicist, Pia Malihi, remains to be seen.
