The criticism of Russell Wilson continues to mount as the Denver Broncos struggle with a 1-5 record, teetering on the edge of another disappointing season.
The promise of 2023, under the guidance of new head coach Sean Payton, was expected to bring out the best in quarterback Russell Wilson. However, as the season has progressed, it appears that Wilson’s performance has remained stagnant, or some argue, has even regressed from the previous season.
On ESPN’s “Get Up,” Ryan Clark openly expressed a harsh reality about the once Super Bowl-winning quarterback, stating, “Russell Wilson is no longer good at football.”
Clark also pointed out the challenging mismatch between the coaching and quarterbacking styles of Wilson and the Broncos, noting, “You should have realized that this pairing of coaches and quarterbacks is one of the worst in terms of schematic and personality alignment.”
Furthermore, Clark criticized the trade that brought Wilson to the Broncos, asserting that it has set the team back, and the subsequent deal they signed with him has created a challenging situation.

“It’s in everyone’s best interest to make this work, but when your quarterback has declined, when he’s past his prime, there’s little that can be done,” Clark commented.
The Broncos are committed to paying Wilson $39 million next season and $37 million in 2025. By the end of the 2025 season, Wilson will be 36 years old, and his performance has clearly regressed since joining Denver.
The Broncos find themselves in a difficult predicament concerning their quarterback, and it appears that the situation is only set to worsen. While it’s evident that Wilson isn’t receiving the same level of protection he had in Seattle, the visual assessment shows that he’s no longer the same QB he once was.
