Social media has provided a platform for anyone who wants to engage in negative discourse.
ESPN’s Laura Rutledge likely encounters strange comments and messages from fans quite regularly. However, while she typically ignores them, she decided to have some fun with an unusual comment this morning.
Rutledge appeared on “Get Up” this morning, and a user on the platform X chose to leave a comment on a video she posted, remarking that she looked “tired” and “very pretty as always.” While the comment may have been a bit peculiar and even slightly unsettling, Rutledge had the perfect response.

She explained that her exhaustion was due to caring for her four-month-old baby, a four-year-old, and juggling multiple jobs. Yet, she expressed that she “wouldn’t change it for the world!”
Rutledge’s reply resonated with fans:
“Someone said this to me recently, as well. Like, DAMN, YOU WOULD BE TIRED, TOO. You are beautiful and amazing at your job. Your kids will be so proud someday,” Molly McGrath commented.
“I’d love to see what that guy would look like on camera for the world to see, doing all the things working moms do,” Kayce Smith from Barstool added.
“My mother taught me at a young age never to say this to a woman. I wouldn’t even say this to my wife, lol. He should have stopped at ‘none of my business,'” a third user wrote.
Platform X can sometimes be a hostile environment, where ordinary people interact with those who favor the darker corners of the internet.
