Podcasts are primarily about sharing, but there are times when it’s wiser to skip the unpleasant details.
Erin Andrews recently shared a skin-care ordeal from earlier this month on her Calm Down podcast with Charissa Thompson. The FOX broadcaster revealed that she had a significant infection on her face in the days leading up to Week 5’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots. Despite attempting to heed Thompson’s advice not to tamper with it, Andrews mentioned that it deteriorated into an “open sore” in the days leading up to the game.

She emphasized that Dak Prescott, the Cowboys’ quarterback, had noticed the infection.
“So I had massive, caked-on amounts of makeup,” Andrews said. “Dak, for sure, when he turned around and looked at me was like, ‘Oh my God, are you okay?” she said.
Andrews went on to explain that she woke up one morning with the right side of her face feeling swollen, resembling a bee sting. Her doctor prescribed an ointment and antibiotics to address the issue.
In retrospect, it appears that either Prescott swiftly regained his composure on camera, or Andrews may have envisioned a more extreme reaction than what actually occurred. There was no noticeable issue during her post-game interview with the Cowboys following their 38-3 victory over the Patriots.
She subsequently returned to her regular duties on the sideline, covering the Philadelphia Eagles’ impressive 23-14 win over the Los Angeles Rams. It’s worth pondering whether she would have mentioned the infection had she been single.
