In a surprising development, the Jonathan Taylor trade saga in Indianapolis has taken an unexpected turn, as reported by FOX Sports’ NFL insider Jay Glazer.
Two months ago, Taylor had requested a trade from the Colts, but as he approaches his season debut, he remains a part of the AFC South club. According to Glazer’s recent update, the market for the 2021 rushing champion is currently quite limited.

Glazer stated, “As of now, there are no trade offers on the table. The Colts are optimistic that the relationship can continue to improve, allowing him to play alongside Anthony Richardson.”
Jonathan Taylor, at 24 years old, is in the final year of his rookie contract. If the Colts find themselves out of playoff contention as the trade deadline approaches, it would make sense to consider trading the talented Wisconsin product rather than risk losing him for nothing in the 2024 free agency.
However, the AFC South currently lacks a dominant frontrunner after four weeks of play. If Shane Steichen’s Colts aim to make a postseason push, retaining their top offensive weapon to complement their dual-threat rookie quarterback, Anthony Richardson, seems like a logical strategy.
